Subject: Moonsocket!!!
first off-mucho props to Chris Friel for a dynamic and stellar recording. He captured much magic in the room on this night.thank you!

the recording is tight!well balanced as stated before and with good bass response.Murphy's bass has been known to loosen molars(thanks to soundshaman Steve Beatty)and it is often hard to capture its glory the way it was in the room...

since there is no info file,i wanted to add some notes for my peeps...

d1t1 & d1t2 are actually the same composition-"Breathe In".the change midway through the song is so stark, that it is often tracked as two separate entities...so much so,i started labeling the 'second part'- "Breathe Out" on all of my recordings...

d1t6 is the composition "Eb"-without its siamese sister "SURreality".the combo is generally (almost always)played in conjunction, but this rarity is just "Eb"

d1t8 is the second set opener "Moonsocket". unfortunately it cuts in at the beginning and one cannot tell how much of the song is lost.a fan favorite and usually a launchpad for those uncharted waters we love, this moonsocket is ruthless!!!stunningly free,it spirals out of control early, and settles into an alien groove that is just breathtaking!!!if this is true improvisation, there is some *serious* telepathy happening. invasion of the body snatchers-style...moonsocket also starts to morph into ASAA which is cut to begin disc 2,unfortunately...

d2t2-"Universal Mind" features Scotty with the rhymes and "Cac-Money" from the opening act-GranolaFunkExpress-opening minds...

overall an amazing show with lots of energy (especially set 2 + the encore)and a terrific recording to marinate on.for a glimpse into the direction this band is headed (hopefully)-check out the "Moonsocket" improv.
