Manassas   03/22/1972

Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Source SBD/FM
Media FLAC   2 discs
Notes This is the full concert, not the Flying In Europe bootleg. Sound quality is much better the FiE, sounds like a very low gen soundboard (some songs have some hiss), and it's some of the best musicianship I've heard. Manassas was one of the best bands ever, as far as I'm concerned, and this is a must have for Stills fans. See J-card for setlist!

Notes from Dirtybrew (dirtybrew@happyhippie.com)
In late 2003, someone on the Lee Shore mailing list came across this show and I got a copy in a trade. It's two discs of a three-disc bootleg recorded from a FM soundboard of Manassas's first live show, the third disc supposedly being terrible-sounding audience recordings of a few of the cut songs from the other two discs.
-The version of Find The Cost Of Freedom on this recording is from that audience source, so you can get an idea of how bad it sounds. I don't know what happened to the soundboard sourced version, but I've never heard it.
-I combined Rock & Roll Crazies with Cuban Bluegrass so they're one track as on the 1972 Manassas album.
-I cut down a little of the hiss from Sugar Babe,
-There was a horrid high-pitched squeal at intervals on Go Back Home, which I dampened so it doesn't hurt the ears so much anymore.

Despite the chunks missing from He Was A Friend Of Mine, 49 Bye Byes, Song Of Love, and Anyway, the recording is a real gem.
