Comments:
Sting opened for The Grateful Dead several times in 1993. On May 15-16, 1993 he opened for the Dead at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl in Las Vegas. Audience tapes of these performances have always been available but it was not until Fall 2002 that soundboards of these shows began to surface. The good news is that both shows sound terrific - there is a wonderful depth to the music and the vocals and instruments are very well balanced. The bad news is that the soundboards for both shows are incomplete. The May 15th soundboard does not include the last part of "When the World..." and "Every Breath You Take." The May 16th soundboard does not include the opening track, "Blackbird." These remastered and complete versions contain an audience patch for the missing tracks. Also, although I usually don't like to modify the music, I have made one minor change. The opening of "Purple Haze" is botched in a manner that is both awful sounding and dangerous to perfectly good speakers and ear drums. I have taken the liberty of minimizing but not eliminating the offending passage.
