| Tech Notes | Taper Notes: N-Track recording software crashed on me upon saving the 1st set resulting in the corruption of the master .wav file. I patched what I had with the source mentioned above (Carl Beck's rig). d1t01 starts out w/the mic running in the cardioid pattern, X/Y at 90degrees. Starting at 10:05, i switched the polor patterns through 4 settings increasing in 5 second intervals. it goes something like this: 10:00 XY cardioids > 10:05 tight cardioid > 10:10 hyper-cardioid > 10:15 super-cardioid> 10:20 figure of 8. At this point the mic is now set in blumlein stereo (90degree crossed figure of 8s on a 45degree axis). second set was recorded at 16bit resolution d2 starts out in blumlein and then at the 11:minute mark, (d2t03 : 30) I make a quick jump from figure of 8 to cardioid, changing the stereo technique from blumlein to X/Y. 25:00, into the set, I change from cardioid to hyper-cardioid still X/Y 30:05, I change from hypers back to figure of 8 blumlein and remain there through the end. not sure how this works out on the individual tracks, I was experimenting w/the stereo features of this microphone. X/Y and Blumlein both share the exact same capsule allignment, so it is just a matter of changing polor patterns of the diaphrams (via AKG S42 control box) to change the stereo technique.
