The Destroyer Storongest Edition (3CD, The Diagrams of Led Zeppelin, TDOLZ 0015/16/17), 4/28/77 Cleveland, aud

The source tape is identical to "The Destroyer" (4LP, SE-77300), "The Destroyers" (6CD, T6CD-1/2), and "Destroyers II" (3CD, SIRA-197/98/99). Among these previously released items, "The Destroyer" (4LP, SE-77300) is the best in terms of sound quality. But this old analogue bootleg has two problems. One is, needless to say, STH is absent. And the other is, as is often the case with analogue boots, some chat between the songs are edited out. On the contrary, both "The Destroyers" (6CD, T6CD-1/2), and "Destroyers II" (3CD, SIRA-197/98/99) contain STH, but they are straight knock-off of this original analogue "The Destroyer", except STH. IMHO, "The Destroyers" (6CD, T6CD-1/2) maintains the sound quality of the original analog, but Stairway, for which the tape source is used, is inferior to the rest. "Destroyers II" (3CD, SIRA-197/98/99) is not only inferior to the original in audio content, but also contains more cut in No Quarter, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, and Achilles, etc, etc... This newly released item from The Diagrams of Led Zeppelin uses, for the first time as the CD release of this show, their original tape source. As the result, more chat between songs are included. (I suppose that's why the bootlegger named this the "Storongest Edition"). But difference is only in Mcs. Regarding songs, there are exactly the same cut/drop out as the analogue contains. Strictly speaking, first 2 or 3 seconds of Going to California is missing on The Diagrams of Led Zeppelin, while it's complete on the original analogue. What makes it worse is that, in terms of sound quality, it's obviously inferior to the analogue. But regarding ST., it's more excellent than "The Destroyers" (BCD, T6CD-1/2). I think this one should be renamed "a bit stronger edition", or something:-) I'm afraid I could not comment on "The Destroyer" (2CD, SECD-77301/02), because I don't own this one, but maybe it is inferior knock-off of analogue Destroyer. The Destroyer (Storongest Edition) (Diagrams of Led Zep) 3 CD

Perf ***** SQ **** Appeal G

Probably the best recording of the second night at Cleveland ?77 (28th April) with an amusing spelling error in the title. Same source as used for the Tarantura and Silver Rarities releases but this is better quality and more complete than either of those. Nice card cover too from the increasingly prolific Diagrams of Led Zeppelin people. (Paul Sheppard Dec 01)
