| Tech Notes | Masterminded by David Geffen, Richie Furay joins with Chris Hillman and J.D. Souther in a new band called the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band or SHF for short. They put together a band that includes ex-Manassas members Al Perkins, Paul Harris and ex-Domino Jim Gordon. This short-lived supergroup was a major disappointment to Richie, who ends his tenure with them after his two-album commitment to David Geffen. Many believe the divergent personalities of Furay and Souther doomed the band's long term prospects. This show is from the tour in support of their debut album. I edited each track in Cool Edit as this show came TAO and also had a couple of other gaps. I fixed a dropout on track 6, Rise and Fall, at about 2:09 - I think it came out pretty good. I then re-appended the tracks in Cool Edit, re-tracked the show in CD Wave, and then converted it to FLAC. I saw these guys about a week later in NYC with Leo Kottke opening (Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park) and along with Dave Mason whom I also saw there that summer, I thought SHF put on one of the best shows of the whole Schaefer 1974 series! |
