| J-Card Comment | Some people have been asking for live Beach Boys, so I thought I'd upload a Brian Wilson show from a few years back. The setlist is mostly BB's, including the whole Pet Sounds album performed in sequence on disc two. In fact, there's both a commercial CD and DVD from this tour (at the Royal Albert Hall), specifically focusing on the Pet Sounds part of the concert only. If you like what you hear on this bootleg, you should consider those also. This concert has Wilson performing with a 10-piece rock band, as well as an orchestra. The songs are layered and full. Performing in his band are members of the Wondermints and Poi Dog Pondering, but not any of the original Beach Boys. Yes, he was around 58 years old at the time, and his voice doesn't match what it was decades earlier, but he still sounds wonderful here, and it's a tribute to him that he was able to overcome mental problems and anxieties to be able to perform live again. Humourously, after the opening 21 minute orchestral "Wilson Suite," the band plays a cover of the Barenaked Ladies' "Brian Wilson." Unfortunately, I don't have generation or equipment info on this one. Since it's a recent audience recording, and the sound quality is very good, it was probably recorded on DAT and transferred to CDR, then passed along the trader chain a few times. I used Cool Edit 2000 to remove any clicks and pops, and repositioned the start points of the tracks so that each one starts at the beginning of the song.
