What a seriously ASS-KICKIN' run of shows by the worlds greatest band , everrrrrrr ! The Branford night is certainly one of the finest moments in the bands illustrious 30 years, but my personal favorite would have to be the 30th ! There is much anticipation as to what the boys could possibly play after the previous nights' incredible peformance ...... As soon as you hit play, the crowd is going crazy and there is an inexplicable crackling surge of energy as they tune up and hit those first notes of a killer 'HELP > SLIP > FRANKLIN'S' -ALL IS BLISS and the band NEVER LETS UP ! The first set is is pure rockin' psychedelic Grateful Dead at their finest. Every song is played with such enthusiam and supreme confidence. 'H>S>F' is followed by the nastiest, dirtiest 'Red Rooster' with Brent just letting loose with some improv lyrics : 'Hey there Little Red Rooster, Well You Aint Sh*t to me, You Think You're A Stud Boy ? -I doubt - I doubt You'll EVER BE !"
It seems to hold true that when the boys were broadcast over the radio, they never held back !The 30th is certainly no exception. Check the ripping 'Dire Wolf', an amazing 'All Over Now' with Brent harmonizing with his ripping solo, a top notch 'Tom Thumb' as well. AND - if you ever doubted 'Picasso Moon' (I am not one) this is THE one for you ! PURE PSYCHEDELIC ROCK -N- ROLL BLISS, Boys and Girls .... Even the 'Dont Ease' smokes to close the 1st ..... As far as the 2nd Set, just look at the setlist and it speaks for itself - IT IS JUST THAT GOOD ! ! ! |
