maybe you are a SBD snob or perhaps you never (blasphemy ! - tsk, tsk) even saw the Good 'Ol Grateful Dead - well ..... not many recordings can put you 'THERE' like these can .... trust me, better yet, trust US ->

DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND GET THESE NEW OADE TRANSFERS ! Get over your old school SBD snobbery (We have ALL had the affliction at one time or another) - THEN -kick-yo-self down in front of a nice stereo w/ good speakers (with whatever else you may need < ; )-~~~~ ) or pop on your best set of headphones and let yourselves be swept away into the 20th Anniversary Tour of 1985 ...... either re-live it again or experience 'IT' for the first time. I have never heard a better recording from the Merriweather Post and I bet you all would be hard pressed to top it as well !!!!

THANKS FOR KNOCKIN' THESE OUT, DARRIN ! ! !

OADE is the preferred MODE

for filling your HEAD with the sounds of the DEAD!!!

Still enjoying 4-4 & 6-15 from this great 1985 run......

Somebody just brought it up....and I have to ask.....

where is the CRUNCHY AUDIENCE from
Bob Weir's Daydream (6-20-83)

the greatest Sugar Magnolia of all time.....??...??.....

this shakedown is absolute must hear. thanks again darrin. these fresh transfers are very appreciated.

These are great recordings. Was this FOB or from the section? Thanks .

I think most Oade recordings are OTS after the advent of the section in 11/84. No matter, though, sk77 is right, these new Oade transfers blow the doors off all other recordings from their era.

Doug and I had a few conversations at the store and at his and my homes. Of all that we have discussed over the years, taping FOB was just not an option for him. He was the true 'avid' taper. One of the first in line waiting for the doors, always lugging a ton of gear (mostly modified + a good deal more equipment than most anyone - esp. in 1984-85) so that he could capture the 'image' as he saw fit ! Having a few connec's (like that amateur hack Healy and others)

I tell you what, I have been to MANY shows and I have heard TONS of recordings - simply put Doug (& Jim) were really onto something (if that is not already blatantly evident by 2004) and Doug - that man has hearing beyond any human I have ever met. Truly a trait that still amazes me to this day. I love going to his house and chill in his 'studio' and just letting him play so much music that just sounds (for lack of better words) incredible !!! His system is certainly the equipment of utter admiration esp. when it is his recording playing through .... last one I remember him busting out was RFK 6-20-92 ..... It sounded better than the show did - I sh*t you not !

Anyways - you guys have obviously got the 'clue' and I feel as though I am preaching to the choir , so to speak !

Just play them loud - keep them lossless - and hook your tight bro's up. I assure you the tightest of SBD snob's will cave into the realization of the chilling effect a HQ AUD recording can create ! ! ! !

this show was really good. I was on the lawn for these two. At the time they were hometown shows and the SBD doesn't capture the "Merriweather" sound. for a good example of this sound listen to some of the songs on running on empty by Jackson Browne(if you can stand it... I hate whiney singer songwriters). Anyhow even though I prefer the playing quality of the second night the song selection is just cool this night and they never did a bad show at merriweather.

These Oade seeds really are phenomenal. Thanks Darrin for getting the new transcriptions into circulation.

After listening to this it is an amazeing recording!! Special thanks to all who made this possible. I am blown away and hope more of these fantastic recordings see the light of day. any chance of the spac show or hershey show from before this one being released? If you haven't checked it out listen to the drumz they are killer.

I've been dubbed a "SBD snob" by my friends and I was told by a buddy to check out anything taped by the Oade bros. I'm blown away by how good this show sounds! Its the next best thing to being there. Thanx to everyone who made this one possible.

Check out d01t03 brown eyed women @ 4m06sec. Fantastic!
