J-Card Comment BIG Thanks to Charlie Miller for yet another wonderful show. A+ Sound on this Gem. And like Charlie says..
Great mix on this one, play it LOUD!!!

This was my buddy Guy's (RIP) only Dead Birthday show, he had rail tickets , said the show was delayed forever, they let everyone in and the stage was empty. No lighting rig, no PA, nothing. Slowly all the gear came in, and then the band wandering around the stage for awhile, and then NFA to open. He would have told the story better, I'm just remembering the salient facts. I Miss you Guytano. Thanks to Charlie Miller for his dedication and the seeders for sharing.

I didn't put the start of set 2 on the end of set one since Bucket kinda goes into Scarlet, but if that is what you want to do to fit it onto 2 discs, go for it. I tracked it the way i did so the second set would be on one disc since everything kinda goes into everything...if that make sense...cm

"[H]e had rail tickets , said the show was delayed forever, they let everyone in and the stage was empty. No lighting rig, no PA, nothing..." ummm. I think you have another show in mind. This was the second night of the run and the crew didn't break down the stage between shows. Also, Kaiser was festival seating - no such thing as rail tickets.

Well pardon me. My friend is dead so I can't get the real story for you. I was merly trying to remember what he had told me years ago. My intent was not to spread misinfo.
So it wasn't the fucking rail, he was up front regardless, and the stage wasn't empty, but the show may have been delayed. Were you at this show? Maybe you can enlighten me as to what exactly happened, my dead friend can't anymore.

I wasn't at this show, but I was here the night before! My only time in the Henry J Kaiser Convention Center. This show was Chinese New Years, the next night was Mardi Gras. The show I saw was "just a Grateful Dead show." I heard the debut of Standing on the Moon. One of the smallest venues I ever saw the band play in. The acoustics of this place just thumps! Also, I drove up from San Diego and got stopped at the Tejon summit on I-5 by a snowstorm. Needless to say, I was very pleased to hear them open second set with Cold Rain and Snow. If 2-6-89 is anywhere near as good as the just described 2-5-89 show was, I'd say: grab this show!
