| Tech Notes | Pink Floyd The Wall Live At Earl's Court "Divided We Fall" This is the best version of The Wall performed live that you will ever get your hands on, barring Roger Waters from putting out a commercial version. from original thread The Harvested version is unique, because: 1. When better sources were available (from "Behind The Wall" TV documentary or Gerald Scarfe's animation from The Wall film), they were inserted in order to improve the overall pleasure when watching it. Ron Toon did a great job with all this video editing (he's a professional by the way). 2. The soundtrack was carefully remastered during hundreds of hours by someone I know very well. All the flaws in the audio that could be corrected or reduced were cleaned. Equalizing was performed also, and some unwanted bass frequencies noises were carefully cleaned. There is also an alternate audio track which is "fake stereo" (the original audio from video source was mono) which most people prefer, because it adds some "space" in the sound (especially during Young Lust, ABITW1, Run Like Hell...). The DVD allows you to choose for the audio track you want to hear (original mono or "fake" stereo). 3. This 2-DVD set is also worth for all the bonus features (and there are a LOT of bonus: tickets, tour programs, The Wall screenplay, documentary...), and for the superb animated menus (authoring was done by Simon W., which IS the master of DVD authoring in Floyd community). So, Harvested's version is not *just* a better version of already circulating copies. It is intended to be the ultimate reference for The Wall live shows on video... until the band decides at last to issue an official film of the shows. |
