| Tech Notes | The Following editing Done in Cooledit Pro: Just playing around with the acoustic set from 6-4-1970 Fillmore East CSNY As you all should know these tapes from the Fillmore are mono and sound good. I had already edited this show a bit and played with the levels some since they were so quiet in places and removed around 8 minutes dead air (no banter) several people had given me very positive feedback on the changes and about 600 people dloaded this whole show, as I originally edited, on easytree This is by no means meant to replace the raw tapes that are in wide circulation but I wanted to see if I could enhance the sound a little by simulating a bit of stereo ambience. I only tried this on the 1st set and that is all that is contained in this flac set I doubt I will try this on the 2nd set (electric) I hope this provides an enjoyable experience but it is mostly just a little practice session to create some stereo ambience (kind of a beta test:-) When I kicked back and listened to the finished CD I really enjoyed it I hope you do I also increased the level again on most of this set 3 - 6dB. Guinevere has had the level increased the most; you may notice a little more background noise in that song now but I (and people I know) would turn that one up on playback anyway so the effect is about the same You have been warned so please don't dload this if you are an absolute purist or a completist Eddie Burks *** The Source Files that were edited to make this set had these notes This show was treed with the 1970, June 5.th. (incompl.) recording in summer 2003 as TOTW at Rustlist and Human Highway EDITING NOTES FROM RON: (Ron Schmitt) There were a total of four small errors - two on disc one of 06/04, and two on disc two of 06/05. I took these into my sound editor and the results were as follows: Disc One 06/04, Track 6 (Guinevere - 2:18; 2:56), - First flaw was a small gap not quite a full second - eliminated by about 95%. It was an uneven break so I couldn't eradicate it entirely. I doubt anyone will identify it. Second flaw was a one to two second long triple flutter - I reduced it by about 90%. There was no way to completely remove this one, ...too tough the wave was actually stretched. Since it occurs during the acoustic set, I suspect this is the one flaw of the bunch that folks may well notice. |
