Pride (In The Name Of Love) Source: November 11, 1987. San Francisco, CA. Justin Herman Plaza. Sound Quality: Very good audience. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is the show where U2 plays in the middle of day on top of a flat-bed truck (I think they borrowed The Grateful Dead's instruments for the show, but I can't remember where I read this.) This is the show during which Bono scales some public art and spray paints "Rock and roll stops the traffic" (forever immortalized in Rattle and Hum, the movie) Taken from @U2.com: "U2 plays a free afternoon concert at the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. Bono calls it a "Save the Yuppies" benefit in reference to the stock market crash the day before. During "Pride," Bono spray paints "Rock and Roll" and "Stop the Traffic" on a nearby piece of modern sculpture, prompting the city to issue a warrant for his arrest for vandalism to city property." Enjoy! Peter |
