| Tech Notes | Notes: Treed Dec. 2003. Thanks to Johannes & Ron for getting this recording out there. This recently surfaced but the exact lineage from the master recording to the tree seed is not known. CEP used to clean a few minor pops/cracks/ticks/gaps. The only significant problem with this recording is that most of "Love The One You're With" is missing. JBraveman torrented this on EZT a while back (it is gone now) at the time that people were torrenting these Fillmore East shows the lineage was not 100% correct This info file tries to provide the most correct and up to date info ---------------------------------------------------------------- For those who will ask why FLAC>SHN>FLAC? The braveman torrent was SHN. Since this show is mono it will **REALLY** benefit from FLAC compression. To save folks time I am converting back to FLAC Results: 641MB FLAC level6 vs 907MB for SHN level 8 provided very little improvement (comparing 2 files) and would have taken well over an hour to encode on a machine that is handling exchange email for a business SHN and FLAC level 5 are about equal in speed and compression on stereo material ---------------------------------------------------------------- There has been no additional editing to this 6-6-1970 torrent FYI: I did edit silence and a little on level for my 6-4-1970 torrent and I also have a simulated stereo torrent for the 6-4-70 set 1 http://www.dimeadozen.org/account-details.php?id=19048 I seed them if I see leechers (who are gonna dload at a decent speed Eddie Burks here is the source for the lineage claims ----------------- updated lineage info---------------------------------------- #46709 by AtS at 2004-09-13 19:38:57 GMT OK as I?ve seen my name mentioned on this subject I?d like to make a comment, here?s the story: When this show was treed by Johannes, I signed up and received it and was blown away completely, so I decided to vine it over at DeadNet where I usually hang out. Doing so I was contacted by one of the members there who asked me to pass the word on how these recordings came into circulation. He knew the taper himself who also was the guy responsible for getting this out to us, but he wished to remain anonymous which can be understandable. He wasn?t too keen on the idea that Bill Halverson should be associated with these boards being circulated, not that I think it would be harmful but maybe someone in the CSN camp may find it less pleasing to know that their former sound engineer was handing out SBD recordings - which he in fact wasn?t. At the Fillmore during 1970, several shows were recorded by tapers who were hooked to the SBD feed. There is one Elton John show that springs to mind with the same lineage, the Alesis Masterlink source. As there were probably more than one taper hooked up on 6/6/70 the recording was in mono. I?m not sure if 6/4 and 6/5 comes from the same sources, it is possible. I?m not even aware if Halverson knew about the tapers or perhaps he didn?t mind, but he these were not his recordings and he did not circulate them in the trading community. In any case, I was asked to provide the true info and passed the word to Johannes who altered the tree info. I also posted on the subject at the Groove (may it rest in peace... ?) and I also made a new infofile for my copy of the show. It?s quite similar to the original one: SBD MR (mono)>Alesis Masterlink>CD>(subsequent lineage unknown), CDR(tree source)>WAV(EAC secure w.offsets)>CoolEdit Pro>FLAC The rest of the infofile is the same as the one JBraveman included with the torrent. Whew, a lot of words in my first post here.. lots of great stuff being torrented here, and it seems the Groove is down again. I hope this was helpful. cheers all, Alex, Sweden The rest of the infofile is the same as the one JBraveman included with the torrent.
