Crackdown Concert   10/31/1986

Notes Bill Graham's 'Crackdown' Concert-Madison Square Garden, New

York City-10-31-1986 NYC (WNEW-FM)sbd and aud

In 1986, Bill Graham visited his old neighborhood in the

Bronx and saw how the crack cocaine epidemic was decimating

the area. He and some of his NYC connections put together

this show at Madison Square Garden to raise money and the

awareness of this problem. Did it work? Who can tell. Great

night of music though.
Headliners were Santana and the Allman Brothers Band and it

is of interest to us because it was the last major

appearance of Paul Butterfield (who sits in with both groups

and jams at the end with many others). The others were Buddy

Miles, Felix Cavaliere, Mick Taylor and Steven Stills.
