| Notes | The name Morcheeba comes from a combination of "MOR", which stands for "Middle-Of-The-Road" and "Cheeba", slang for weed ("Morcheeba" must have sounded better than "Average Dope"!). This London-based trio plays a lush blend of trippy music and smooth vocals that's bluesy and funky at the same time. At the heart of Morcheeba are two brothers, Ross Godfrey (Guitars, Bass, Piano, Synthesizer, Lap Steel) and Paul Godfrey (Lyrics, Drums, Beats, Scratching). Paul leaned toward the technical side of music, while Ross was a blueshound. After composing together instrumentally for about four years, the brothers Godfrey hooked up with vocalist Skye Edwards at a Greenwich house party in late 1994. The three discovered they had much in common (specially love of music and ganja) and soon formed Morcheeba. The band has claimed that their first album was inspired by "bleak life experiences and an awful lot of drugs." Laid-back and musically diverse, Morcheeba can alter your consciousness - and that's a good thing! This is a Rare soundboard show. |
