| Notes | Notes on Don't Push The Clown from the Avalon Ballroom, SF CA, 10-11-03 They were the closing (headliner) band of the evening that started out with opening band "Quicksilver Gold", who I also recorded, but the band decided to use that recording as merchandise, so this is all from that night available. The Avalon has a large stage to the left of the stairs as you walk in; big enough to stage 2 or 3 bands at the same time (that is, load their gear on the stage together with any others playing that night). The PA is a large one, capable of producing more than ample SP levels for the room. I set my stage mic up centered on Prairie's drum kit, near the edge, with, as you face the stage, Terry to the left of the kit and Bobby to the right of the kit and Ray's amp to the right of Bobby. With Ray at the mic most of the time, he stood to the front of the stage near the middle. The mics on the PA are located right in front of each stack about 7 ft. off the floor and about 3 ft. from the stack. Players: Ray White, guitar & vocals. Bobby Vega, bass guitar. Terry Haggerty, lead guitar. Prairie Prince, drums. Gear used: Stage mic: Crown SASS P Mk 2 stereo condenser PZM (pressure zone microphone) House mics: Crown CM-700 cadioid condensers, 1 per main stack. Mixer: Shure FP-42 A/D converter: Apogee MiniMe Tape deck: Tascam DA-P1 Transfer: Tascam DA-20>M AudioDelta24/96>Samplitude 7.0>wav>shntool>CDR/MKW |
