| Notes | "Trains in Stockholm" |
| Tech Notes | Remastered by Matt Putzel. From the text notes: "This is a cleaned up and patched copy of the torrent that was posted last week. There was originally digital static during "Russia On Ice" and "Trains". An alternate source of those tracks was posted afterward, but the EQ, volume and tracking were different, so it wasn't a slam dunk fit. It turns out that the original torrent was a "remaster" of the source from which the patches originate. The patches were from the raw version of the show. The raw version of the show had some heavy bass spots (to the point of distortion), and it is clear to me now that the "remaster" version was EQed to diminish the distortion. This process also diminished much of the low end of the recording. This compilation is mostly from the remastered torrent originally posted here, with a slight low end EQ tweak to compensate for the lack of bass frequencies. "Russia On Ice" was patched from 7:30 to the end of the track from the raw source, and nearly all of "Trains" was taken from the raw version. The patches were EQed and volume adjusted to try to match the rest of the recording as best as I could. There is some very minor bass distortion in "Russia On Ice" that was present on the original master that I was not able to eliminate completely, however it is minor when compared to the digital static from the original torrent. The first few seconds of "Waiting" were missing from the original torrent. This flaw is not present on the raw version of the show, so I was able to patch the beginning of "Waiting" from that. (the first 42 seconds). The entire show was retracked ("Sound Of Muzak" was not trcked seperately on the original torrent). Here is the lineage from the original torrent: Lineage: Unknown mics/recorder -> WAV -> DAO CDR -> Exact Audio Copy 0.95 prebeta 5 (secure mode) -> WAV -> FLAC Frontend 1.7.1 (set to align on sector boundaries) -> FLAC I don't have the lineage of the raw source, but this compilation was: FLAC > WAV > Wavelab 4.0 (patches and EQ adjustments) > CDWAV > FLAC front end. You may wonder why I didn't use the "raw" version to start with instead of the already "remastered" copy. The reason is that the "raw" version had some of its own problems, such as a couple of digital errors of its own, and more bass distortion scattered throughout. Anyways, the whole show is complete now and flows correctly and is very enjoyable. Many thanks to TheAntiPop for the original torrent, and to meri2001 for providing the patches! MP Oct '05" |
