| Tech Notes | From the seeder: This tape isn't that old actually,it's the debut release from the label Reel Masters. A really fantastic debut. There have actually been fragments of it circulating on various compilations, but this is the most complete version of the show. This one is the far superior version in sound, there are actually two versions, this one, and a raw source offered by Wardour. There is a version called " Ein Traum Wird Waur" that claims that it has new source audio of the show, and it is added on to the older audio. Whether or not it is indeed different from this version, I couldn't tell you, but I do know that this show is more complete than " Ein Traum Wird Waur". That version is missing the " Organ Solo/Thank You", and " Heartbreaker". But this one ( Dusseldorf, 1970) is missing " Bring It On Home", which can be found on the compilation " Bring It On Home" by Pot. If they could all just put them together that would make it a complete tape I believe. It's a very energetic tape, really fantastic sound and performance, matches up with the performance in Montreux (3-7-70) in energy and performance. To me it does sound a lot like a merge of two different tapes together because one minute it will be very clear, the next minute it will sound kind of muffled, but it doesn't distract the listener. There are small cuts in this tape according to Underground Uprising, but the job of editting was done quite well. There are few audience comments, the crowd are really raucous when Zep stop playing, when they're playing they behave themselves. The taper did screw around with the mic somtimes, you can hear him tinker with it after some songs. They chose to do " Communication Breakdown" as the opener instead of " We're Gonna Groove", and it's a very nice version actually, the whole show is actually filled with a great sounding performance. Another really long, but great sounding version of " How Many More Times" filled with a lot of improvisations by Plant. |
