I've read some bad reviews of this, but this loose performance is actually excellent. It's cool to hear a singer who always relied on overdramatic poetry simply having fun and roaring through naughty improvs. I don't think there are many Doors jam sessions floating around, so this glimpse into their non-performance mindset is refreshing and unique. The band is on fire throughout, and Jim's voice is notably strong. My copy has a bit of static in spots, and I'm not sure if that's from the source or not. Otherwise, this is a professional recording, and it sounds fantastic. |
