Tech Notes "Notes: Global Gathering, a UK institution on the summer festival circuit, makes its American debut with a diversified line up of live bands and DJ acts, spread out over 7 stages in Miami's Bicentennial Park. Global has put itself on the U.S. map, kicking off 10 days of non-stop partying in the South Beach/Miami area that is known as the annual Winter Music Conference. It's bigger brother, Ultra Music Festival has an 8 year head-start and serves as the Conferences' official closing party, which happens the next weekend. The hard core stage was well attended, as the booking of Nine Inch Nails to close out the evening almost certainly assured, but the diversity of the support act's throughout the day made it entertaining, as opposed to a one-bass-note scream-fest, like an Ozzfest second stage. The quality varies and along with the audience participation, leaves the quality on this at 3.5/5. The NIN set which was torrented previously is given a hefty dose of EQ on the bottom end, along with all the other filesets from this stage, giving a more balanced sound and should be considered an upgrade from the original NIN torrent. Killswitch is missing the encore, and track 3 of Rob Zombie has a cut (weird pause thingy??)in it. Credit my son Philip with this, as the fledgling taper takes to the hardcore stage. When I accused him of not giving it his all on the Avenged Sevenfold set he replied " Are you kidding, I was fighting for my life!". Ah, youth...
Enjoy!"
