Notes From the taper:

"Strummer, Jones, Simoneon, Howard

"Straight from the closet archives here is the 2nd of my Clash masters from the short series of US Festival warm up gigs. The San Antonio show took place one week before the Clash were to play in front of 150,000 people in what would be Mick Jones last show as a member of the Clash (kind of makes "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" bitterweet).

"A quick Note... security was much tighter than the non-existant security in Wichita Falls and there was no smoking (before the smoking bans) in the theatre so they were watching closely. I believe there is one spot that I had to drop the mic low pretty quickly due to almost getting caught after someone near me lit up (no luxury of stealthing the mics in hats, etc. back then). So, there may be a minor muffling for a few seconds in one spot though I couldn't find it, I recall it being there but it may not be as noticeable as I thought.

"A bit of a different set list on this night than the previous Wichita Falls show, once again we get a rare outing of Lost In The Supermarket and Death Or Glory. In addition a we are treated to a great Charlie Don't Surf, Bankrobber and Armagideon Time plus the wonderful bonus of them bringing their friend Joe Ely out for the only recorded version of Joe's Fingernails with the Clash backing that I'm aware of, not to mention the knock out closer of I Fought The Law.

"Quality is very good to excellent and after doing a side by side comparision, I think by adding a bit of treble to this one on playback it is better than the Wichita Falls recording. It definitely has more up front presence, again nice insturment seperation with vocals and all instrruments clear and strong.

"The Tucson gig four nights later was recorded by someone but I understand it is fairly poor distorted quaility, so add a bit of treble, crank it up and hopefully everyone enjoys this second slice of Clash history."
