Will Kimbrough 'solo', opening for Kate Campbell.
Kimbrough also appeared with Kate Campbell and backed her throughout her set.
Will started his set talking about the time he spent playing a gig in a prison somewhere in Sweden I think!
The few seconds spent introducing the first track where missed as I stopped the recorder to make an adjustment.
Apart from this the gig is complete and in running order. I mention this because there are other references
to prison songs elsewhere during the gig.

Set List:
01 Intro
02 Godsend
03 I Don't Like It
04 Chimayo
05 You Made Your Bed You'd Better Lay In It
06 Everyone's in Love With Everyone.
07 Warring Ways
08 I’m on Your Side
09 Hey Big Sister
10 A Piece of Work
11 Philadelphia, Mississippi
12 Goodnight Moon

Edinburgh gig was good. It’s a real polite attentive crowd and it was so quiet and intimate that it
was almost unnerving tonight. Like each note I played was so clearly heard that I started to get nervous!
This is not a bad thing; just an intense mental game I play with myself sometimes. I want to shake up the set list,
and not just rely on what works every night, so I mix in songs that i don’t usually perform.
And then I have to think about it. So I start thinking and then I’m thinking about what I can do
on guitar that will make this more interesting. Can I make a loop and take a solo? Does this work with a fingerpicking style?
Should I just barrel through the thing?

Honestly what I usually do over here is walk around the block really fast about an hour before the show,
take a head clearing stroll after all day in the car, then about 30 minutes before the show, I stop in at a local pub
and down a pint of beer real quick and go do the show.

Tonight I just walked outside the venue and then had to head back in and play. I think I did fine but since
the crowd was quiet and reserved it made me think about everything a little too much. These nights, these thinking nights,
are important though. Important in evolving your set, especially your solo set. Helps you by making you aware that
your little live show tricks don’t always bowl people over everywhere. Makes you learn new tricks and grow.
Hurts a little, irritates you like a mosquito bite that wakes you up on a hot summer night. But it makes you better.

At least I hope so.

Scotland, that is. My ancestral home. Edinburgh is a beautiful old city of stone. I hope to see Dean Owens tonight.
We play the Pleasance here in a little while, and then it’s north to Glenfarg, near Perth. Cheers.
