Tech Notes FROM THE DEN:

My personal favorite Phish video ever, and I'm sure I'm not alone. This version is from a 4 disc
version which circulates with mpeg-1 layer audio. It was synched to an aud mic source, but c'mon,
it was mpeg! This is much better. It was edited together so you can have each set on 1 disc, the way
it was meant to be! The video is from the master tapes, and the audio is from the master 48k's.
Unfortunately, set 3 is incomplete. It is incomplete on every version I've come by. I've had my own
1st gen VHS (2 tapes) of this show for over 10 years, and it's the same way. But my 1st gen didn't
even have "The Squirming Coil" on the tape. This has that song until about halfway through. If I had
to guess, I would say the video taper omitted the missing songs from set 3. My reasoning for this is
because all you would need is 3 Hi8 tapes which are all 2 hours in length. Plenty to get the entire
show on tape. On the other hand, there are 2 cuts during set 2. So really, who knows what
happened except the taper himself. Maybe he had to shut the cam down during those parts.
Nevertheless, it just doesn't get any better than this video.

May the force be with the video taper of this show until the end of time!

Please enjoy, and do NOT buy or sell this video!

# - Rendered at highest quality settings with 2-pass VBR @ 8200 max, 8100 avg, 8000 min kbps.
Original disc bitrates were @ 8000 kbps, which is why I made 8000 the minimum. This re-rendering
had to be done so I could edit the sets seemlessly together. NO video quality loss is noticable, if
there even is any.

MORE INFO FROM THE TAPER

It looks like I should speak up and fill in some gaps in information since I'm the filmer of this show.
I videotaped this on a Sony Hi-8 TR-101. It had a 10x optical zoom and I also used an external 2x telephoto lens. Yes, this was a rare occasion when I did film on a tripod, even though lots of old videos which I filmed are commonly mistakenly listed as being tripod shot. Since Phish allowed audio taping, my old filming partner and I went into the show telling security that the tripod was a mic stand. There are no cuts in the video due to security problems, as security was basically non-existant from where I was filming. The reason for the cuts are battery changes. That is also the reason that the video ends before the show is over, my last battery died.
