Going South Mick Taylor:guitar/vocals Max Middleton: keyboards Wayne Hammond: bass Mike Cullen: drums Recorded from the best seat in the house: Dan's table. Sound-wise, I thought it was the ideal location. Mrs. T then invited him to her table, off to my right, as there would be less mic-stand in the pictures they would be taking. Dan invited me, but I had to decline for perceived sonic reasons. Mick seemed ill and, to me, literally asleep once. He had a red wine glass with him, which was speculated about after the first show ended before the 40 minute mark. The house swiftly announced that everybody was welcome for the second show, but that seats had to be vacated for the ticketholders of the second show. I had a ticket so I stayed put. When the evening was over, it became apparent that the closing time was strictly adhered to, which seemed to cut into Mick's playing time; having an opening act was a mistake. I knew the show was going to be recorded, but I happened to be in the area so I did the same. This particular recording version probably didn't get much circulation. It sounds really great. This is the entire evening's performance; nothing was missed. (Opening act Matt "Guitar" Murphy not recorded that I know of). Note: Both SONY WM-D3 recorders that I've owned recorded with a slightly slow tape speed which results in a higher-than-natural pitch when played-back on a correctly-speeded player. Since I don't know the EXACT correction ratio it was left "as is": no audio fixing of any kind was used. |
