| J-Card Comment | Lineage: VHS (2nd generation, I believe) -> wav via Cool Edit -> cut into tracks with CE -> ape via Monkey's Audio 3.99 (compression normal) I got this on VHS through eBay years ago, and it is one of my absolute favorite Tull bootlegs, even though the sound quality is not pristine. I'd rate the sound a B- overall - echoey, but crisp, if that makes sense. The vocals, all of the instruments, and all of the spoken parts are clear, even though it is very clearly an audience recording. What makes this boot stand out is a number of things. The song selection is unlike any other show they've ever played, as far as I know. The Waking Edge, Black Sunday, This Is Not Love.....wow. Plus...Martin speaks - and for a couple of minutes! The track "Martin's Postcards" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard during a concert, especially Martin's last line. A couple of notes: the last track on the second disc is the same material as tracks 2-08 through 2-13, which was an extended medley that very quickly switched between several songs and back, making editing pretty tricky. I've included it as an alternate, but the enclosed m3u file does not include it. Also, the track "Andy Giddings' Parrot" was not being called that at the time. Ian had just composed it, and was still referring to it as "So Far Untitled" at the time of this show. Later, it came to be known as AGP, although I have never heard any official word as to whether that is its actual name. Cheers, Cody k |
