Coconut Grove, Santa Cruz, CA
Source Soundboard recording - 1st gen. copy of KUSP prebroadcast reel master.
Media CD-R   2 discs
Notes KUSP-FM prebroadcast Revox B77 reel master at 7.5 ips > Tandberg 9241XD with Dolby B reel at 3 3/4 ips.

Transfered with Tandberg 9241XD (Dolby B on) > Macintosh with DigiDesign AudioMedia III soundcard > Pro Tools > Aiff > Toast Titanium > CD.

CD audio extraction with Toast Titanium > xACT (Flac level 8 files /
sector boundaries verified). md5 file created with checkSUM+.

The disc split between the main set and encores was the only break in
the recording so it was the logical place to split it up, but the show
can be divided more evenly if desired (between tracks 8 and 9 of the
first disc).I should mention that the Ampex GrandMaster reel required
baking before transfer. Also the reel box was marked as being an off-air
master while my notes said that it was a 1st gen. prebroadcast soundboard.
I listened to it carefully and hear no radio transmission hiss or extra
noise at all, so I decided that it just sounds too good to have been
recorded off the air and so I've labeled it as what my notes said.
However I did not do a frequency spectrum analysis so the lineage might
be able to be verified one way or the other by someone else. But I think
you will agree that this is outstanding sound quality regardless of how
it is labeled.
