| Tech Notes | This is being posted by request. It's an average audience recording from early in EC's "Money and Cigarettes" tour; as always, the blues medley near the end of the show is a particular highlight. Nothing else particularly unusual about this show, from what I could tell. The tape appears to have been made by someone pretty inexperienced with taping -- there is an abrupt cut into the first track a minute or so into the show, the tape flip is early in "Tulsa Time" (the taper apparently didn't know the setlist) during the piano intro, and Layla cuts near the end. There is consistent low talking near the microphone which may have been the taper. The recording itself was pretty tough to take when I started with it; I used Audix to speed correct (-3.25%), lightly de-hiss, drop the +1 kHz band to reduce the boom of the arena, and boost the lowest and highest ends of the spectrum to add depth to the recording. The finished product still isn't great (I'd rate it maybe a 6 on a 10-scale) but it's listenable to all but the most casual listener. As I mentioned, this is posted by request, but will probably be an upgrade (or will fill a gap) for completists. Hope you like it. |
