Notes 1970 Filmore Compilation, Look at J-Card
J-Card Comment Here's a little project I made for myself the other day and thought I'd put out here in case there's any interest. It's a collection of stuff from the winter 1970 Neil Young & Crazy Horse tour intended to accompany the wonderful Live At The Fillmore release. I was inspired by the fact that there are still three unreleased soundboard recordings from the Fillmore run circulating (alternate versions of EKTIN and "Winterlong," and the version "Cinnamon Girl" which is scandalously missing from the official release*).

Note that there are two "Down By The River"s. For the more adventurous, there's the Electric Factory Philadelphia version, an extremely lo-fi (I warned you!) thirty-one minute version. A more compact version (thirteen minutes) from Fillmore East is also included; also a nice version, from a reasonable (...1970...) audience tape. Either will fit snugly onto a CD along with the other tracks. (To fit both, you'd have to knock off the "bonus" tracks (the electric and acoustic Loners and "It Might Have Been"). Personally, I put the Philly version here and tacked the Fillmore one onto the end of my 3/28/70 Santa Monica disc.)

Also note that "Cowgirl In The Sand" starts out sounding terrible, and then quickly fades into a very listenable audience recording which was graciously shared here a year or two ago.

Dzienkuje.

* ...because there's no multi-track tape available.

P.S. I didn't use the SBD "Down By The River" from Cincinnati because I think it sucks... with all due respect to those who like it!
