This recording was a collaboration of sorts. I'd been to the early all-ages show earlier in the day (which was very good), and had heard amazing things about the late show, so I was thrilled to hear that the great yltfan had been in town that day and recorded it. He wrote back that he had been using his backup gear and felt the recording wasn't up to snuff, but if I wanted to try to tweak it a bit...

The two main problems with the original recording were not enough bass, and some distortion in the loud trebly bits (mostly crowd noise, but some songs as well). The bass was easy enough to boost via EQing. The distortion was mostly a problem during the encores, and then only in the left channel, so I mixed in a fair bit of the right channel to the left during tracks 25-31, making for reduced stereo but a cleaner overall sound. Finally, I applied some light dynamic compression to reduce the very loudest bits, which were almost all crowd noise - the music should be compressed very little if at all.

The result still isn't pristine - you can hear some distortion in places with headphones - but it is an improvement. And given the performance, I don't think you'll mind - it's worth the price of admission alone to find out what happens when Flans gives the "T" signal in "Spy." (No spoilers, please.) Add in a completely spazztastic setlist ("We're the Replacements"! "The Day"!) and I think this is well worth posting.

Many thanks to yltfan for taping and sharing this. Enjoy.
