This was previously converted by David Baty. The source he used was missing Granny and Help Myself. It was not believed that these songs were actually recorded for a long time. I recieved a show from a trader that was supposed to be the 11/12/93 Paradise show from Boston. This turned out to actually be a mis-date. I almost deleted the wav files I had ripped from the CD and tossed the source discs out, but realized this was actually from the next night and contained the missing songs. The copy I had was missing the soundcheck, which was included on David Baty's conversion. So by adding Granny and Help Myself, from this new source (source #2) to David's conversion (source #1), we have the whole show finally. Granny and Help Myself sound like they could be DSBD -> DAT -> CD. There is no tape hiss and it sounds just like the rest of the songs on source #1. I have no idea why they were not included on the original circulated CDs. I converted the shn's from David's conversion to wav's, then converted everything to flac. Below are David's notes on this source. The only part that has changed is obviously the addition of the two missing songs: ---------------------------------- diginoise in d1t01 at 3:21-3:25, 3:40-3:45 d1t03 at 5:04, 6:08 * I had three different sources of this show at my disposal. All of them had diginoise during the soundcheck, at different spots. However, all of them ended up having the same diginoise at the aforementioned spots. % Dave introduces the next song as Granny but it most definately isn't. dmbta.nancies.org lists both Granny and Help Myself as proceeding Minarets. I assume the songs were not recorded on this source, or cut afterwards. Also, there was about 10 seconds of silence between Billies and Minarets which I deleted. All three sources were missing these songs. ^ Dave solo ---------------------------------- This was the band's first show in Connecticut, and the last time the Minarets -> Blue Water medley was played (to date). The "Take A Minute" Jam was titled by fans. It does not have an official name. This was only played once and was just an improv while the band was soundchecking. The Watchtower tease at the end of the show is unusual. I don't think this was in intentional tease. From hearing it, I get the impression that either the band ran out of time and didn't realize it until after the song had started, or the house lights have come on ending the show. These rare older shows have been collected and converted through a collaborative effort to get them into circulation. Sometimes these shows do not have the best sound quality (and maybe that's why they aren't circulated much to begin with), but people should have access to them. Thanks to David Baty for the original conversion and to Andy Svenson for the CD source used for Granny and Help Myself. Compiled By Adam Nelson on January 25, 2007 |
