The timings for these two tracks closely match the timings given by Peter Losin for this date. - Losin also lists four other tracks for this recodring that are missing here. The full tracklist for the recording is given as: 1. Billie's Bounce (C. Parker) 3:41 2. Ornithology (C. Parker-B. Harris) (incomplete) 4:59-Missing 3. All the Things You Are (J. Kern-O. Hammerstein) 5:06-Missing 4. Blue 'n' Boogie (D. Gillespie-F. Paparelli) 5:07-Missing 5. Anthropology (D. Gillespie-C. Parker) 2:44 6. Announcement (incomplete) 0:02-Missing "From the Finale Club, located at two-thirty (?)..." Further notes from Peter Losin's Site: "A local rhythm section backing Parker and Davis. Davis was in Los Angeles with the Benny Carter Orchestra and apparently played with Parker after hours at the Finale Club. Eventually he was fined by the musicians' union and chose to leave the Carter group and stay with the Parker Quintet. Davis's playing is steadily more assured, but there are some rough spots, e.g. the "Anthropology" theme and the opening chorus of "Ornithology." Parker covers nicely for him, however. Davis really shines on "All the Things You Are." (Missing here) - Credit to Peter Losin, http://www.plosin.com/ |
