This was the first Who bootleg I ever heard. Back in those days I was unaware of the huge free trade network available through mail and over the internet. I had just recently discovered The Who and their powerful grip on my mind and soul was growing rapidly. I became a true fanatic and obsessed with collecting anything Who related I could find. It was only a matter of time until I stumbled into the land of bootlegs, rare & unofficial recordings. I bought it in a small record shop on the pier in Old Orchard Beach, Saco, Maine. I chose this recording because of the time period and alluring cover art, unaware of the recording quality contained within. To my ultimate pleasure what I found was a professional soundboard recording of a rare era in live Who shows. Furthermore, this was a great show with some classic snobbish remarks from Townshend, berating the audience and referring to the old Fillmore venue as a pisshole. I was in Who heaven! From that moment on, I became a bootleg collector. My collection has grown significantly since that fateful summer day. Over that time, I have heard a wealth of amazing music that ranks amongst the most renowned recordings in many artists official catalogues. This includes unofficial recordings of The Who though strangely enough I've yet to obtain anything that surpasses the show I've uploaded. It's with great pleasure that I share this timeless recording with the Who fans of the world. Enjoy!

PS. This show was originally recorded by Decca for future release. This idea was rejected and the only Who album to see the light of day in 1968 was a collection of b-sides and singles entitled, "Magic Bus: The Who On Tour". As any dedicated Who fan knows, there isn't a single live track on this compilation making the title a complete hoax. Furthermore, this album was marred by previously release tracks (from as recently as The Who Sell Out in 1967), disposable b-sides and overall poor sound quality. Roger Daltrey has been quoted as saying "Our bootlegs sound better than our albums." and in this case, it certainly proves to be so. Perhaps this was a desperate attempt at keeping The Who in the puplic eye. I think it was a decision made solely by the record company. The Who were probably notified of the release when they returned from the '68 North American tour. As much as they might've disagreed with the disceptive title and shabby contents, they were dead broke and needed all the money they could get so the record stayed on the shelves. Fortunately, Tommy (released in 1969) became a big hit all around the world, preventing the breakup of the band.
