J-Card Comment 41st Annual Cambridge Folk Festival - BBC4 - 2005 [1 DVD]
July 28-31, 2005

The Cambridge Folk Festival is an annual music festival held in Cambridge, England. The festival is renowned for its eclectic mix of music and a wide definition of what might be considered folk. It occurs over a long weekend in summer at Cherry Hinton Hall. Its current title sponsor is BBC Radio 2 where it is broadcast live, while highlights are recorded and shown later on the digital television channel BBC Four. It is often said that the main "folk" aspect of the festival is the audience, not the performers. (Wikipedia)

This video was received in a bulk trade, such that info concerning the original recording is unknown. It consisted of five .mpg files, which were merged and chaptered in TMPGEnc DVD Author 3, to a DVD-video format. The video apparently consists of two days of BBC4 broadcast, followed by some BBC Proms performances of a slightly different character. Thus, parts of the daily broadcasts may have been omitted or unrecorded, but I am unable to address that other than to say that what exists in this video is a very nice, clean, and enjoyable watch, with tons of variety.

* The Blind Boys of Alabama totally steal the show (play it loud)!

** A second performance of Kitty Jay, by Seth Lakeman, from the
Nationwide Mercury Prize awards ceremony, was cropped from this
video, in addition to a few seconds worth of the second day's lead-in,
so that the entire DVD would fit onto a single-layer disc. Otherwise, it
would have been 4.47 GB in size.

# Please share this music in whatever manner you see fit, and never
embarass yourself or the trading community by trying to sell it -
that's not why it's here (and you know it)!
