Endless thanks to him!! The show was actually recorded by KR's manager who made the copy fer Luis. It's a great show, INCREDIBLE sound, and one of the only shows with Kevin on drums. Kevin was one of the many drummers to fill in between Scott Mathews' departure and King's arrival. The show is cut short when someone (Mike de, as listed in The Hymnal magazine) threw a bottle at Gibby, but missed and hit Kevin in the face. It would be his last show with the band. If ya listen REALLY closely to at the end of Mexican Caravan, ya can hear pathetic whimpering, I assume it's Kevin. It's a really pitiful whimper... According to Brad Perkins, drummer of The Plague (and another one of the drummers to fill in fer Butthole Surfers), the bottle was thrown after they "tattooed" Gibby in magic markers with "Marching Plague Sucks". I guess Mike de took offense and decided a bottle toss would somehow remedy the situation Kevin was actually a really good drummer, as demonstrated on "Suicide" (here played twice!), and (very likely) "Something" from the 'A Brown Reason to Live' EP. Most accounts of his brief tenure call him a 'metalhead' who didn't really fit in the Butthole Surfers, but this show is really enjoyable. He's pretty proficient, aside from "DNA", which they all seemed to have problems playing. Another reason this show is so special is that it contains the only known live recordings of, the Brown Reason outtake, "Eat Shit and Die", and what has come to be called "insects" (by me, at least). Both have shown up on some studio sessions, but only here live. Lastly, only a handful of tapes with Billy Jolly exist. Bill was instrumental in bringing the band back after the Mathews bros. quit. Bill would leave around June of 84, just prior to the band's first full U.S. tour., but Bill helped get the band back on the map... I have gotten away from posting Butthole Surfers as of late as so many folks have been doing so. I certainly need to show some love fer all the fellow buttholes here and the amazing ups! This show is COMPLETELY uncirculated, like you've never seen it anywhere until now. The quality rivals that of an official release, and the performance is top notch. Hopefully it shows my thanks to all fer yer amazing seeds...or begins to, at least. The Anal Obsession: http://www.jasonramke.com/bhs/main.php Please do not sell!
