The band: Sel Balamir - Guitar, Vocals Matt Brobin - Drums Neil Mahony - Bass, Vocals ...and a shitload of effects pedals... Notes: First night of a short tour in order to finace the completion of their new opus, "The Octopus". Well, I hope they succeed, as it was a cracking set and the new material was excellent. Seems like the second album barely got a look in, with only Gustav's Arrival and O Fortuna in the the set. Apparently What Is Music? and Glory Electricity were going to be the encore, but we were treated to UFOs instead. Not sure why, unless there was a strict 2300 curfew. Sel was handing out ear plugs before they went on, though the volume wasn't really that high (never can be too careful with your hearing though!). A fair sprinkling of humour throughout the night, certainly not a band taking themselves too seriously, especially with the polyester ties. :-) It was interesting to watch Sel and Neil doing the pedal dance all night. I don't recall seeing so many effects pedals on stage before - for just two guys! I hope they hurry back with a proper tour once the album is finally out, as I will certainly be there, though I doubt if it will be in a venue anywhere as small as Sleazys. Sound: Due to my taping position at the front, the vocals are low in the mix, as the PA was behind me. The Nice'n'Sleazy stage is barely a foot high, so standing somewhere that would have been optimum for the PA would have meant I would have been unable to actually see the band. Otherwise, everything else is really clear. I had to increase the volume on the RH channel by 3db to equal the LH channel. Otherwise it is pretty much as recorded. Please support the band by buying their many albums & other merch and by going to see them live. http://www.amplifiertheband.com/ http://www.myspace.com/amplifiertheband http://www.nicensleazy.com/ No art - make your own!
