Taper: globual
Transferrer: ZP

SOUND QUALITY: C/C- (Much of this recording is soaked in clipping, over-saturation and other forms of distortion. It's still _listenable_, mind you - and even enjoyable in a way (practically the only instrument relatively free from distortion is Kawabata's guitar - I guess I should say "free from _recording_ distortion. Whatever - at times it sounds nearly acapella, and since it's Kawabata, that's not such a bad thing). Just don't expect full clarity. The quiet bits, including a lovely little improvisation in the beginning of Dark Star, sound great)

Tsuyama Atsushi: monster bass, voice, cosmic joker

MINI BIO:
"Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. (and subsequent offshoots) is a Japanese psychedelic band founded in 1995 by members of the Acid Mothers Temple soul-collective. The band is led by guitarist Kawabata Makoto and early in their career featured many musicians but by 2004 the line-up had coalesced with 4 core members and frequent vocal guests.

SHOW NOTES:
During the manic orgy of Acid Mothers in late March of 2008, globual contacted me through PM, asking - in a nutshell - if I'd be interested in doing some Acid Mothers Transferring.

Like I really had to be asked!

He sent me reordings of three shows from the Vancouver area. It took me a while to transfer them - and I'd like to thank globual for being so patient in the months of silence from my end - but here, finally, is the first of 'em (and easily the worst-sounding of the lot, fret not).

The recording could have definitely used a low-cut, let's put it that way. It's listenable, but certainly not something you'd play for people not yet converts to the way of the Acid Mother. A completist's-only item, let's call it, born and spread in etree.org naming conventions!

There's some great moments to be heard here - Tsuyama scolding some inebriated-sounding (or maybe just parlez-French-vousing) Canuck to "please speak in English" cracks me up. The guitar work here, as is standard for the Acid Mothers, is incredible - and the particular pattern of distortion on this recording does have the effect of making Kawabata stand out from the rest of the sonic glop. And the pre-Dark Star improvisation is delicious.

For the die-hard fan only, perhaps - but for the die-hard fan, it's a rewarding visit to the world of the Acid Mothers.

RECORDING NOTES:
Soaked in distortion, steeped in saturation, and marinated in the resulting soup.

REQUESTS & REMINDERS:
Do not sell this recording. Do not buy this recording. Do not sell this recording, then buy it from yourself. When recording the Acid Mothers Temple, always use a low-cut.
