| Notes | PRO SHOT On June 13, 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio at Crosley Field, "Home of the Cincinnati Reds," the Cincinnati Pop Festival, "Midsummers Rock" featured Grand Funk Railroad, Mountain, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Alice Cooper, and Traffic with Steve Winwood. Take a trip back to the early days of "rock festivals" where indulgent drum and guitar solos ruled world and the concert sound systems weren't very good. Ah, but the drugs were plentiful! This televised concert was hosted by the very straight Jack Lescoulie who provides play-by-play commentary. San Francisco reporter Gary Schaefer interviews stoners in audience. In 1970 the guitar effects were pretty crude! Highlights are the amazingly punk Iggy Pop. Wow! Iggy crowd surfs and when an audience member offers a jar of peanut butter, Iggy smears it all over his chest and tosses chunks into the crowd. Also, a very psychedelic Alice Cooper gets a pineapple upside cake thrown into his face while he tries to hypnotize the crowd by swinging a pocket watch back and forth. Songs include: Grand Funk Railroad: "Drum Solo," "T.N.U.C.," "Inside Looking Out." Mountain: "Theme from an Imaginary Western," "Guitar Solo," "Dreams Of Milk and Honey." Alice Cooper: "Black Juju." Iggy Pop and the Stooges: "TVEye," "1970," "Feel Alright." Traffic: "John Barleycorn," "Pearly Queen," "Stranger to Himself." |
