| Tech Notes | An excellently produced and historically significant DVD. Note that neither the DVD nor the Flac files were released with an md5 checksum or fingerprints. Note: the Flac is stored on the Gathering's 2001-06-29 data disc. "Video: NTSC Audio: LPCM Stereo Running time 76.5 minutes On the night of this show, I had the idea to make a DVD using all the handheld camera footage I could find. It took until now to finish, but it has been well worth the effort. To make this, I have used all the videos you have seen before and some you have not. Most of the shots are from the very front of the crowd, in with all the forum members who traveled the world to be at this show. There were also contributions from youtube members, and you will see some footage that they have not shared before. To me, though the biggest difference between this and other releases of the show is the sound quality. Marcotoronto recorded the show on a stereo audio recorder right in front of the stage. The location of it left it a bit muffled, so I have done some remastering of it so you can't tell. This is the first time this audio has been released. I explained some of this in the credits, in case some trader gets this ten years from now he will know what it is. Cycling colours videos: Ziz, LordCliff, Marcotoronto, Lukaz Youtube contributors: mythago666, pniofskrubu, AlexPtic, tinkiezone Maybe over the next week or so I will put this on youtube. Don't do it for me, I would rather do it from my project files and avoid another generation copy loss. Come and get it! Feedback is already helping me seed the torrent." "As requested, this is the audio CD version of my multi camera DVD. This is taken from the same master as the DVD, with the only technical difference being the recording's original 44.1 kHz sample rate is preserved, verses 48 kHz for DVD. The tracklist on this CD is exactly the same as the DVD. I used FLAC format to preserve the full sound quality. Album artwork is embedded in every file. If you are not familiar with FLAC format, you can learn more at http://flac.sourceforge.net/. Winamp is a popular program that plays FLAC. You can use Nero to burn a CD, just remember to remove the gap between each track and make sure that you do not normalize the files. Alternatively, there is a simple little freeware program I like called Burrrn that makes it very easy to burn audio CD's from many formats. Get it here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Burrrn.htm I do not expect this release to have anywhere near the popularity of the DVD version. I simply had a request for a CD version, so here it is. Enjoy!" |
