| Tech Notes | "To begin with this remaster has been quite an adventure in making. It started out as an attempt to improve on an inferior copy of this show. A copy that had numerous pops and gaps. There were also a couple spots on the disc that had some jitter. It was determined that the overall bass sound needed to be increased. Much time was spent trying to clean up the imperfections. The bass was increased to a pleasing level. While this made some improvement in the overall sound, a completely clean copy was not to be had. The jitter problem could not be reduced at all. What should have been done in the first place now became apparent, a clean copy was in need to be found. At this point a fellow trader came forth, on his own, offering just that. With a clean copy all that had to be done was to increase the bass frequency. This remaster may be a subtle change to many. If you have a decent sound system, like one with a sub woofer, the difference is very clear. Compared to the sound of the original Colin's bass now rumbles adaquately. In addition a cover with title is now available and the wave files have been converted to shn format. This is an awesome show. It is widely considered by many as the best Signify era recording." "The original show info had the source as being an audience recording. This is clearly a soundboard recording! Remastered by the Retrorocker hfleiger@comcast.net The Solo By The Smoke Machine was a remaster that I made after trading for it from someone who downloaded a very inferior copy from "Sharing The Groove". It had numerous audio problems and I felt the bass frequency needed a boost. To make a long story short I ended up with a clean copy and remastered it for the bass frequency. All said and done I was a little conservative with the bass boost and probably should not have entered it into the trading community. I did so because of promises made to other traders. I came up with the title based on a comment made by Steve Wilson on the recording and made accompaning artwork with which I was pleased. At the time I was sure it was a sbd recording. Now I believe it to be an audience. Either way it is great sounding show!" |
