comments:
this comes from a live broadcast over WBUR radio in Boston that I recorded
from the acoustically delightful Berklee Performance Center in Boston.
(back in the old fashioned days before live jazz and rock broadcasts were
wiped out like a torrent of all-released material) I don't listen to much
Freddie, honestly, but I enjoy him when I do. Both of Boston's NPR stations
had strong signals and were near to me at this time but the reception was
inconsistent, sometimes clear as a sunny Arizona day, other times some slight
static. WBUR's signal usually seemed to come in better than WGBH's.
It sounded pretty good checking my disc of this (which these files come
from) and I know there are some fans of Freddie Hubbard out there who
would want to hear this one so it's an under-the-wire last second addon
torrent for Bertha's bulging hardrive belly (as I was trying to get
everything seasonally appropriate ready this time, after blowing it
completely with my 2007 Chanukah and Christmas torrent party plans...)
oh well, at least now I can share some of my recordings that haven't
been seeded before. This is one of them, I think it's the complete
second show. My "masters of jazz" series are from audience tapes, but
in every other way, this qualifies as one of glasnostrd19's "masters
of jazz series", because Freddie is a master trumpeter, no doubt
about that at all listening to anything of his work. this is from
In the late 70's and early 80's especially, I recorded quite a few
jazz shows. Almost all of them (including this one) were recorded
without any kind of dolby or noise reduction processing
in either the master or remastering of the recording. Someone probably
told me the 2 missing titles of this in its 1st post but I must have
forgotten to write them down. (sorry about that, I try to keep notes
for stuff like that now so I can update torrents with missing titles.)
do not sell this recording.
