There is no actual music missing in the main source (Stage 4th gen), and some of the stage banter between the music tracks seems to be differently edited: (no proper match between Aud and Stage source in tracks 01 and 07, some hidden edits or cuts in either source). Credits: Thanks to Don (Stage) and to Micah (AUD) for taping this show. Thanks to LC for passing along this low gen Stage source copy. Thanks to Micah, Hasi and walk for the AUD source material (patches). Enjoy !! -- Yojimbo & flambay www.zappateers.com/bb - August 2010" Late show: "~~ From 4th gen stage recording ~~ Yet another Toronto '69 upgrade, but this is not just an upgrade. While most of you probably are familiar with the material here, I don't think many have heard it presented this way before. The Don Preston stage tapes from Toronto 1969 have been circulating in many incarnations, labeled with many different dates and venues. In recent years, this show has been identified as two different Rockpile shows: Feb 23 late and May 24 late. While working on a version of the so-called May 24 late show, which I hadn't checked closely before, I found an overlap between the two. So it turned out to be one and the same show, which drdork convinced me to label as May 24 late. And so, my recent seed of "1969 02 23 (L) Toronto" (http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=19700) becomes obsolete - all the music from that seed is included here. If you don't want to download it again, instruction follow below. I still had to use a fill from my unknown gen tape, but this time only 12 seconds. Drdork's 3 arguments why 1969 05 24 (L) is the most plausible date for this show: 1. The presence of André, who at the early show on that night had just arrived in Toronto. 2. Pound is introduced as Pound, whereas on 2/23/69 (early) Toronto it was introduced as String Quartet. 3. Aside from this tape, Igor's Boogie, Redneck Eats, and Eye Of Agamotto are not known to have been performed before April 1969, and Some Ballet Music is not known to have been performed before May 1969. Preliminary, revised FZShows entry: 1969 05 24 - Rockpile, Toronto, Canada Late show 94 min, Stage, B+ With André ??? on vocals (*). My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama, Charles Ives, jam, Some Ballet Music, improvisations/prelude to Uncle Meat, Uncle Meat, drum duet, Eye Of Agamotto, jam, Lonely Lonely Nights, Orange County Lumber Truck Medley, instrumental, The String Quartet, Igor's Boogie/Little Doo-wop, Dom DeWild's electro-genetic experiment, Call Any Vegetable, Redneck Eats, Stone City, Trouble Every Day This version: 94:10 min, Stage, B+ (mono up until 0:58 of track 04, from there stereo) Lineage: Stage recording > Reel-to-reel tape (4th gen) > CDR (standalone burner) > EAC > SoundForge 10.0 (speed correction, editing, tracking) > Trader's Little Helper (flac level 7) Lineage fill: Maxell XLII tape, unknown gen > Denon DRM-800A > M-Audio Audiophile 2496 > SoundForge 10.0 (minor EQ adjustment) > merging with main source Taped by: Don Preston Transferred by: LC (fill source by Yojimbo) Edited by: Yojimbo Setlist: 01 My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama 02 Charles Ives 03 jam 04 Some Ballet Music 05 improvisations/prelude to Uncle Meat 06 Uncle Meat 07 drum duet 08 Eye Of Agamotto 09 jam 10 Lonely Lonely Nights 11 tuning-up and audience interaction (to fill source @ 2:34) 12 Orange County Lumber Truck Medley (back to main source @ 0:02) 13 audience interaction 14 instrumental 15 A Pound For A Brown preamble 16 A Pound For A Brown 17 Sleeping In A Jar 18 Igor's Boogie/Little Doo-wop 19 Dom DeWild's electro-genetic experiment 20 Call Any Vegetable 21 Redneck Eats 22 Stone City 23 Trouble Every Day Track 01 - 10 were previously identified as 1969 05 24 (L). Track 11-23 were previously identified as 1969 02 23 (L). That's right, you heard right: Thanks to flambay for speed correction advice! Hope you'll enjoy this new way of hearing this show! www.zappateers.com/bb - August 2010" |
