(actually Aug 31st, as French TV didn't hit the stage until after midnight)

This is recording #4 of the "ProgDay Archives" project

(#1 was the Forever Einstein @ ProgDay '03 torrent, but
I didn't realize at the time that that was the start of
a whole series, due to popular demand...)

#2 was the first portion of this ProgDay Preshow, the
Dark Aether Project's set

#3 was the second band of this Preshow, Smokin' Granny

#4 (this recording) wraps up the ProgDay '02 Preshow

NOTE: If you are planning on downloading all three sets
of this Preshow and burning them to CD, the whole thing
will fit on three CDRs if you put the first song of
French TV's set on the same disc as Smokin' Granny's set.

1. That Thing on the Wall (9:56)
2. Presage (by Trap) (7:31)
3. Under the Big W (13:25)
4. Viable Tissue Matter (12:59)
5. Violence of Amateurs medley (15:53)
(incl. Joosan Lost/The Fate,
The Odessa Steps Sequence,
Mail Order Quarks, The Secret
Life of Walter Riddle and the
Hawaiian War Chant)
6. And the Dead Dog Leapt Up and (7:21)
Flew Around the Room
7. Hey! Real Executives Jump from (6:47)
the 50th floor! (incl.
Locomotive Breath intro)
8. Black Day, White Light / (11:31)
Friendly Enzymes combo (with
Tales from Topographic Oceans
conclusion)
9. band intros (1:02)

Total Time: 86:29

(If you put "That Thing on the Wall" on the same disc
as the Smokin' Granny set - see NOTE above - then
the total time for this disc comes out to 76:33)

Audience recording, taped with a Sony TCS-580V
handheld tape recorder with built-in microphones
(sitting on table about 20 feet from stage).
Recorded to Maxell XLII 90 min tape. Converted to
WAV using an Onkyo TA-RW311 tape deck fed into an
Compac Presario PC, using Cool Edit 96. Converted
to FLAC using the FLAC Frontend program.

The sound quality isn't the absolute greatest, but
it's certainly listenable.

Most of the songs in this show come from French TV's
seventh album, "The Case Against Art", although they
sprinkled in songs from several of their previous
albums. They're all worth getting, as are the later
albums (I think they're up to #9 by now). I particularly
recommend "French TV 6: The Violence of Amateurs",
as it remains my favorite.

And attend ProgDay if you possibly can. Every ticket
sold helps the festival a lot. No one is getting
rich off the festival - the financial backers are
usually lucky if they break even. If I can drive
8 hours each way to go, I don't want to hear any
excuses from you. It's the best prog show around.

Sorry for the lack of photos to accompany this recording, but I
didn't get a digital camera until a few months after this show.

The ProgDay Archives will return with...I dunno yet. I'll pick
out something good. Maybe the Muffins '01 and '02 sets.
