"NOTES:

It was my second time seeing For a Minor Reflection in Paradiso's Kleine Zaal.
The last time, on 7th June 2009, I mistakenly went to the main hall and
watched Jarvis Cocker's roadies breaking down his equipment post-gig, before
it dawned on me that I was in the wrong place. By the time I had bolted
upstairs, I'd missed the first song and then abandoned the idea of recording
it. I'm like that, you see: all or nothing.

No such problem this time around, however. I was there in good time, half an
hour before the band were due to go on. In fact, I was the FIRST one there.

At 22:00, which was when the band were due to come on, there were still only
13 people in the room. Mysteriously, the band didn't materialise, so we
waited... and waited... and waited.

Downstairs in the main hall, MGMT were playing. For A Minor Reflection
apparently had to wait until the other band were finished before they could
start their set; I have no idea why. Perhaps it was in the hope that some
people would get distracted on their way down the stairs from the balcony and
stop in to see another band, thereby presumably buying more alcohol at the
bar.

Whatever the reason for the delay, For a Minor Reflection finally took to the
stage at about 22:35. By now, there were enough people in the room to spare
anyone embarrassment and the band got under way with 'Séð Til Lands', which
seemed to require no-one to actually play anything until it segued into
'Kastljós', a song that has been around for years, but only recently saw a
release on FaMR's sophomore album, 'Höldum Í Átt Að Óreiðu'.

The Kleine Zaal of the Paradiso is probably my favourite venue in Amsterdam.
It's intimate and has cracking sound, although it's usually very, very loud in
there. This occasion was no exception.

The new album builds on the modest success of the first, the uncompromisingly
titled 'Reistu Þig Við, Sólin Er Komin Á Loft...' It's a worthy successor and
I continue to predict that FaMR are destined for great things, even if they
have, perhaps, lost a little of the momentum they had built up by touring with
Sigur Rós a few years ago. Indeed, I'm curious how many downloads this gig
will get.

As usual, the recording is being released with no mastering, other than fades
at the beginning and end. You're hearing it exactly how I did.

I had an ideal position and there was very little movement around me, so the
sound is consistently excellent throughout. There's the occasional rhubarb
from some wankers with attention deficit disorder in the back of the room, but
that's sadly more the rule than the exception these days. At least it wasn't
next to the mics.

Enjoy!"
