| Tech Notes | "Info: A truly unique concert this. The band only played 3 songs, but 3 utterly unique renditions. The music was accompanied by a short film entitled ‘fimmta árstíðin’ (the fifth season), which Sigur Rós co-produced. The film contained aerial landscape shots of Iceland. The version of Samskeyti is unlike any other. Utterly minimalistic. Big was recorded for the bands Peel Session they did in 2000, but had not been played live before (or since) this concert. And as for Avalon, I'll leave it up to the description posted on sigur-ros.co.uk at the time of the concert: for the last piece, jonsi lined himself in the middle of the stage with his mouth gagged, accompanied by a choir which was gagged as well. a microphone was set up in front of jonsi and an extended version of avalon (the last song on ágætis byrjun) came on. after a short while, jonsi took off his gag and sung an operatic improvised vocal accompaniment to avalon. the choir remained silent and gagged the whole time. kjartan came out for a short while and conducted this silent choir in the slow rhythm of avalon. I acquired this from Jon @ victoryrose.blogspot.com. You can download a remastered version on his blog. I had to edit out gaps between the tracks on this one. Enjoy, einzack (2011-04-22)" |
