J-Card Comment The Country Club was a nice place for concerts and close to the record store where I worked (Slipped Disc Records).
This building held about 800-1,000 people (my guess) and was a box shape with a balcony.
There was a huge crowd in line by the time Bill and I arrived there.
My girlfriend Barbette worked here but couldn't get us in ahead of the crowd this time.
When we did get inside the floor tables were already taken so we darted upstairs and set up at a table against the balcony rail just a little left of center.
There were speakers aimed right at us and I put the microphones sticking just over the balcony edge and pointed at the stage.
The instruments are very clear and crisp sounding but Neil's vocals came out a bit gritty in the loudest places.
The tape was not over recorded so it not known why it came out that way but it is not too bad.
Recording from the balcony makes this club sound a bit like a big hall with a roaring crowd.
Because of the recording location the applause is not close to the microphones.
Didn't do much during the transfer.
Volume and balance adjusted and a couple tape flips were spliced.
Trimmed the second encore call so this would fit on a single disc.
For historical reference only and not intended for resale or any commercial use.
Enjoy another night in the way back machine
