J-Card Comment TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
Here is a slightly lesser known bootleg recording of The Who from the fall of '75 "Who By Numbers" tour. The source, which was obtained fairly recently through online means, is typical of audience recordings of this era, perhaps even slightly inferior. To begin with, the overall level of this recording was little more than a whisper and the noise level was thus, fairly significant. Apart from the overall level of the source, the recording was also very muddy sounding, with unwanted low to low mid range frequencies forming a layer of muffled noise atop the musical elements of the recording. I have attempted to remove some of this unwanted noise and the apparent abundance of tape layer and possible multiple transfer noise built up over time as well as additional resonating frequencies perhaps from the original source recording. As usual I have decided against any form of noise reduction apart from a few very small click removals in several places where loud clicks/pops were apparent. This is not noticeable and does not affect the audio inversely in any way. I believe the result of this editing has been successful and a better sounding recording has emerged. It's far from perfect and still contains a significant noise level along with other negative sound elements. Regardless, it is an improvement over the source material which to me, makes it worth keeping for Who collectors.
