| J-Card Comment | ..." Oh, I don't have a setlist tonight but it's called, oh, Commando, 1-2-3-4!" That was Dee Dee, and this is one of the last 2 shows he played in Italy (the other one was the day after @ The Tunnel, in Milan, with a slightly different set: he played Time Bomb, Pills and Motorbikin' instead of Come On Now and The Locomotion). Despite the high volume they played, and Christian Black with a bad cold, this was a really good night. We met Dee Dee just after he arrived at the venue, and spent half an hour with him, talking about how Argentina was like Italy, his new hobby (he was into painting with Kostabi back then) and Ramones, of course. He ended up signing my copy of his book Poison Heart and other stuff. The show is just a blast, with 25 songs in merely 52 minutes, with Dee Dee shouting his trademark 1-2-3-4! track after track with no pause, he only took the time to dedicate Pet Sematary to Joey who was in the hospital in really bad shape (he passed away just few days after). WARNING: Babylonia was a hard to tape venue, as they often blast the volume at very high level, causing some distortion in the sound, like in this case. I traded this show before, but this is a freshly new rip from my original master cassette recording, better than the previously one (circulated). In any case, if you listened to this before, you know how it sounds: like a Johnny Ramone amp with volume at 100! nevertheless quite entertaining... A partial video recording of the show also exist (not made by me, anayway) |
