J-Card Comment Happy holidays, Doors fans.

Some say he/she only knows two facts about ducks, and they're both wrong. And if you tune your radio to 88.4 FM you can actually hear his/her thoughts. All we know is he/she is called the (Androgynous) Anonymous Doors Fan.

This time around, Anonymous Doors Fan and I have combined our amazing powers to reveal another new Doors recording just in time for the holidays. It's an alternate source for the July 10, 1968 Houston show and it sounds even worse than the currently circulating source! Huh?! On second thought, maybe we shouldn't work together on releasing new material anymore -- for quality's sake.

But sadly it's true. This 1st gen alternate source actually sounds worse than the 2nd gen circulating source I uploaded a few months ago. But it's never been traded out. Why? Like Anonymous Doors Fan's identity, no one's really sure. All we know is that it's a little more complete than the other source. On this tape, "When The Music's Over" doesn't have the tape flip right before Jim's scream (could they have found a worst time to cut?), "Who Do You Love" is also complete, and "Light My Fire" is twice as long but still incomplete (damn, we were close). Also, there are cuts present on this source that are not on the other source. So unlike the last show Anonymous Doors Fan brought us, this one is more a gift for the Doors hardcore collectors/completists out there.

It's probably a generous "B-" if you want to put a letter grade on it. But it does have an amusing intro from the tapers, which is a little unique for these audience recordings. I'm guessing someone will eventually make a decent matrix of both sources and we'll get to hear what most of this show sounds like all at once. Maybe one day a third source will be uncovered and we'll finally have all of "Light My Fire."

A big thank you to Anonymous Doors Fan for sending me this low gen source when I first suggested sharing my copy as a surprise gift for Doors fans. Happy holidays!

Now who's going to share something new for Boxing Day?
