| Notes | Original Source Notes: This is the entire show of the only Gig at Carnegie Hall on May 2,1972. This is a Known 1st gen safety copy From Ken Lee's Master Cassette. All previous copies that circulated were mono. This is the history of this recording: Ken Recorded this with a set of Sony Dynamic carded micas (Model f98) > Sony TC126 Stereo cassette machine, using one Ampex 361 C-90 cassette tape. From Box 33, roughly equivalent to centre of the first balcony. Ken's brother in-law, Mark Cohen copied the one master tape, around 1976-78. Ken would make a safety copy, playing the master once, then retire it. The copy was made with a bad cable. This safety copy was flawed. The right channel had dropouts and static. And copies from that were patched to mono versions. He believed that the master was flawed due to a bad mic cable, but it was only a bad RCA cable on the 1st gen transfer. This copy is a different transfer. I discovered it 3 years ago (2008) in Mark's Tapes. I was comparing it to my copy and discovered after listening that a miracle was happening. No Tape Issues. The Correct Speed, No Broken Channels, Just sweet stereo imagery. Original Transfer Notes: Nakamichi DR2 > KorgMR1000 DSDFF@5.6MHz > Audiogate > 24/88.2 > Wavelab 6 > Ozone4 > CDWave > R8Brain(16/44.1) MOTB Remastering Notes: Slight overall tape hiss reduction using Izotope RX Denoiser 2> slight EQ and balance adjustments > lowered audience applause gain after each song > removed a few very loud claps> there is one section of "Careful" where the mics get overloaded, can't fix> there is a tape flip during "Echoes", can't fix> overall the gain was slightly increased with less tape noise. |
